This is my personal review of Sometimes I Lie by Alice Feeney. This title can be found here.
It is currently available on Kindle Unlimited (click here to check it out), which I think is a great deal as I generally pay half as much for multiple books as I would for one book.
In this book, we meet the main character as she is in the hospital under a coma, and she can hear and somewhat see what’s going on, but cannot speak. She is not quite sure what happens to her, and as the story goes along, we get more of the puzzle.
We meet the people in her life, including her seemingly estranged husband, perfect sister, coworkers, and people tied to her past that I won’t spoil.
This book was… interesting.
It took a REALLY long time for me to get into. I considered not finishing it, it was taking too long to get to the plot.
And the timelines thing, there was a ‘many years ago’ plot, a ‘few days ago’ plot, and a ‘now’ plot that the story jumps between.
And just remember the title of the book – it comes into play here and there.
The ending, many people are confused about. I didn’t find it that confusing, though it does leave one thing a little open, but I don’t think there is a sequel.
However, would like a little bit of clarification as to who was the actual catalyst or idea creator of the incident that changed her prior life “circumstances”. There is only one allusion to it, which is confusing given the title of the book, but I am taking it as sufficient for face value since this isn’t a true story.
I would give it a 3 stars out of 5. It’s a decent plot, but it takes too long to open up, and the jumping timelines requires a bit more attention that I was ready for at the beginning.
At least the incident happened right around Christmas so that helped figure out whether we were in current time or ‘a few days ago.’

Have you read this book? Did you enjoy it? What did you think of the ending (don’t read, as there may be spoilers in comments if you haven’t read it yet.)
Thanks for reading, and God bless!
