Sharing is caring!

Have you seen Monat everywhere and wondered which products would be best for you? Have you wondered if it does what you’ve seen around town or on social media?

Well, today, I am going to give you a bit of insight into this luxury haircare brand.

First things first, let’s be clear. I do sell Monat. I want you to know that up front. Initially, I was wanting it for the hair restoration properties.

And then when I felt what it did for my hair, which I will describe a little later on, I knew I had to jump on board and share it with others.

And they have loved it, too.

And if someone has asked you about this brand and given you samples, please follow up with them about buying. And please do not quote me when discussing what they recommended for your hair, since they have done a consultation with you and actually talked about your specific hair concerns.

These are general guidelines, not specifically put out by the company, and should be used as such.

If you wish for me to consult about your hair type specifically, please send me an email at happyhairlife {at} yahoo {dot} com. (Sorry about the hieroglyphics, but spam bots will search and destroy that email address unless I disguise it somehow.)

If you do contact me, you should look at the products I recommend and the prices to make sure it is within your budget; serious inquiries only, please.

In saying that I sell it, which means I will make a small commission, at no extra cost to you, should you make a purchase using my links. You can read my disclosure policy at the bottom of this page. Thank you!

How to Buy Monat

You can get Monat directly from my website at www.happyhairlife.mymonat.com/shop.

Again, if you have already consulted with a Monat rep, please follow up with them; these are my order links.

Be aware that although other sites may have Monat products for sale, they are not officially licensed to sell and are improper and against Monat usage guidelines.

If you do not get it from a Monat website, you cannot be guaranteed that the product you receive is actually an un-expired Monat product.

For instance, you may get an inferior product in a Monat bottle (the person used the Monat and then filled the bottle with a cheaper shampoo), which has happened. You’ve been warned…

Monat Products

Now, for the recommendations:

Monat for Curly Hair

In general, curly haired girls generally require additional moisture for their beautiful curls. This is achieved through use of the Renew Shampoo.

If you have longer hair, one of the best conditioners is the Revitalize Conditioner.

You can also use the Restore Leave-In Conditioner as a leave-in or wash out conditioner.

If you depend on a mousse to control those locks, we do have a Moxie Magnifying Mousse.

You can get a “system” (combo) of the previously recommended Renew Shampoo, Revtalize Conditioner, and Moxie Mousse for cheaper than you would get each one individually in the Magnify System.

You could also opt for the Hydration System, which has really great hydration products, but please see the above info about the conditioners and pick which is right for you.

You can add any additional products at any time.

The one product that everyone should have is the Rejuveniqe Oil.

It is such a beautiful and lightweight oil, made to mimic your own body’s naturally produced oils, it can be used on the hair, skin, and for many other uses. You can find more information on it’s (at last count) 101 uses here.

Which Monat is Best for Fine, Limp (and Thinning) Hair

Now this is something special. The recommended shampoo for this type of hair is the Revive Shampoo.

It has been shown to plump up the hair strand 3 times it’s normal volume, but remember, Monat doesn’t use the typical heavy buildup products that other brands do! How do they do it? Magic…?

The Revitalize Conditioner is the go-to for this type of hair, as it is very light-weight and won’t dull the hair and make it droopy.

Now, if you have thinning hair that is fine and limp, this is generally my recommendation. You could use the Intense Repair Conditioner if your hair is dry.

Best Monat Products for Severely Dry, Damaged Hair

If your hair is in a really sad shape, chances are that any of the above recommendations, based on your hair type, will improve it greatly.

This is how I got started: I had been dying my hair all kinds of “fashion” (read: unusual) colors, and had to bleach my hair to blonde to get the colors to show up.

While most people experience damage in the bleaching process, I actually got a lot of damage when pulling out the pink I’d had in my hair previously. And it was ~~fried~~. Straw-like. One wash of the Renew Shampoo, and I was hooked, lined, and sinkered.

I had a new, soft texture back more like my normal hair, FINALLY. And while this did help repair my hair, generally I like the items made for volume (Revive Shampoo and Revitalize Conditioner).

But if your hair is severely dry, you can use the Advanced Hydrating Hair Care Collection

If your hair is severely damaged, you can use the Restructuring Hair Care Collection. It is “designed to take a 360 approach to reverse the appearance of hair damage, correcting the entire hair fiber, inside and out.”1

Both of the above are beloved, revolutionary products.

Mens’ & Women’s Short Hair with Monat

Now, you have a few options here. You can use anything recommended above or below. But generally, short hair doesn’t require a lot of maintenance, and the people who keep short hair like to keep products to a minimum.

This is great, where the Black 2-in-1 Shampoo & Conditioner comes in. It has cleansing and clarifying properties of a shampoo, with that famous Monat Rejuveniqe Oil and conditioning that keeps hair so soft and shiny.

It does smell minty, (heavenly), if that makes a difference. Most of our products do have a slight smell. While that is generally enjoyed by customers, you should request samples (if available, as some are not) if that is a concern for you.

Colored Hair with Monat

Did you know that Monat can help you sustain your hair color longer? And make those plantinum blondes less brassy, blondes more sassy, and browns more…deep and bada–… oookay, nvm.. Let’s move on.

Plantinum babes should use the Perfectly Platinum to keep out those brassy tones and get your hair to that true, icy color you love.

Blondes will want the Brilliant Blonde to keep that pure, deep blonde.

Brunettes love the Beautiful Brunette to get those deep, rich browns and reds that really set a brunette apart with mystery and beauty.

Since Monat (as most other brands also) recommends that you shampoo twice (get general usage directions here), you can use this for one shampoo and your favorite other Monat shampoo that supports your hair goals, and then follow up with your favorite Monat conditioner.

Monat for Thinning Hair

I have probably, over my time with Monat, gotten most interest inquires about whether Monat can grow hair back.

It has some key proprietary ingredient blends that help sustain hair growth and retention for many people.

However, I do not typically recommend the specific hair growth shampoo and conditioners unless people have very very significant hair loss.

And, let’s be honest. When you’re a woman who is losing hair and seeing thinning spots, however small, it feels very very very very very significant.

Many of our products will help to grow your hair. Your rep should know which ones contain hair growth-enhancing ingredients.

It’s not always specifically for that, but it does help to have a fuller, more beautiful head of hair while still getting specific products for your hair type.

As a rep, I typically ask for pictures, what your concerns are, and other factors to determine your needs in this area.

Therefore, I am not going to specifically recommend one product for this.

Sorry to disappoint, but because of the way these products work, I would rather be in close contact with you about your progress.

Styling Products

Please see our styling products here.

They can be used for the same purposes as other brands, but are also non-toxic and won’t provide buildup on your hair.

One that is different is The Champ Dry Shampoo. It uses a special ingredient that acts differently than your typical dry shampoo so that it won’t damage your hair as is grows out.

I did a fun little video years ago about the Champ Dry Shampoo, while I was still a blonde. Feel free to enjoy and laugh at me… I know I am a goofball. (Also, learn a new way to enjoy chocolate pop-tarts, or skip that part, whichever you prefer..)

Does Monat Offer Discounts

Monat offers discounts to VIP customers (please read the entire agreement fully before becoming a VIP as you have certain obligations, which are not hard to fulfill if you plan to order more, and you can cancel within the stated time frame.) VIPs usually get access to flash sales, making the products even cheaper.

If you need help with VIP info, you can find more info here.

Monat also offers a Mix and Match discount, where if you buy a certain combination of products, generally a shampoo, conditioner, and styling product (your order may vary), you can get 15% off your order.

Please note that this discount does not show up until the very end of the checkout process, on the final total screen.

Also, Monat offers “systems” which are a bundle of products that typically work well together to achieve a certain result, and are cheaper in the system bundle than they are separately. They can be found HERE.

And there you have it. I could write a lot more about Monat and what it can do for you.

The biggest piece of advice is that you should consider this like any other luxury beauty brand: evaluate whether you think it meets your hair goals and go from there.

That and, ask for help. Communicate with your rep. They can’t help you select what’s best for you if you don’t tell them your issues and goals for your hair.

I wish you love, peace, and less hair grease. Please let me know if you have questions or need help. Thanks for reading!
